BECK Caulfield Guineas Day

And they're off! The Beck Caulfield Guineas Day was a fine start to the Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup Carnival, and it was hard to beat the lure of the Champagne Pommery Pegasus Club marquee, decked out in a luxe Parisian theme, complete with quilted pink couches. Of course, there were other attractions: the Chadstone Fashion Stakes (with music by DJ Andy Murphy as everyone strutted their stuff) and a performance by DJ Lauren Mac, who replaced The Script. The latter were set to perform, but their stage collapsed while they were on tour, damaging their band equipment. That was the only bit of bad luck, unless you didn't back the winner (which I didn't). A hint for those attending Caulfield Cup and wondering what to wear: there were a lot of crowns (see Lauren Brain and Cassie Howarth, below), and structured shapes in hats, as well as nudes and florals. Cobalt blue and scarlet red were also big colours in the fashion stakes. As for men, two words: blue suits. (Images courtesy of Street Smith and SDP Media)
