Patternation by Lia T.
The Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival always has a kick-ass cultural program, but one of the stand-outs was Patternation, where Lia T, from local Melbourne jewellery label O.T.T., decided to bring together two generations of Australian artists and designers renowned for their fearless use of pattern. Jenny Bannister, Ken Done, Linda Jackson, Reg Mombassa - all these Australian icons were celebrated by emerging artists in a pop-up exhibition. What was on display? An O.T.T. by Lia t-shirt made from cane toad leather, for starters. The opening night party at The Carlton Club was a celebration of dizzying colour: it was hard to know whether to look at the artistry, or the people. The answer: both.
