Launch of The Emerson

Those who've been partying in Melbourne for more than a decade remember at least one incarnation (The Market Hotel!) - or several - of the place that is now The Emerson. Always a crazy, fun, lively place, its re-birth is set to bring back the vibe of old, and the opening attracted many a Melbourne name, such as Richard Nylon, Gwendolynne Burkin, Danielle Vagner, Christina Cauchi and Andea Moss. No wonder: the transformation has cost about $12 million. Some people got tapped on the shoulder and given a special membership key. Special. Its big talking point is three levels and a view of Melbourne from the rooftop. Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson - who famously said "It is a happy talent to know how to play" -  there are also VIP booths and a private VIP entrance for the rich, famous or the simply well-connected.
